We
are proud to announce that Saber Press has a new book
project in production! Written by the legendary Bob Taubert, former
Marine officer, Vietnam combat veteran, and retired 24-year FBI veteran, this
book promises to become an instant classic of the genre.
Bob's personal
training philosophy, developed during his many years while involved in SWAT and
FBI Special Operations is distilled into this unique book. It will provide a
compendium of information and advice regarding skills development, weapons,
ammunition, equipment, close quarters battle tactics, and unique long and short
gun drills used to hone and maintain the critical skills and techniques employed
during SWAT operations and raids. We are thrilled that Bob has chosen to work
with us to publish this important book, and will do our best to do it justice.

ABOUT THE
AUTHOR: To the professionals in the business, Bob Taubert needs no
introduction. For those not familiar with him, Bob has extensive experience in
SWAT operations, training, and logistical support.
Just a few of his
many accomplishments are noted below.
Assisted in the
creation and training of the FBI's elite
Hostage Rescue Team (HRT);
Selected to train
and equip DEA agents in Close Quarters Battle, SWAT tactics, and combat
survival skills while serving as a senior instructor at the
FBI Academy.
These DEA agents went on to participate in some of the most highly secretive
joint agency covert operations the U.S. has ever run;
Attended many of
the major firearms training schools in the world and qualified as Master or
Expert in long and short firearms;
Was FBI HRT and Special
Operations and Research Unit's (SOARU) liaison during the 1984 Los Angeles
Olympics;
Represented FBI in classified
three-year U.S. Coast Guard-Justice Department study into maritime
terrorism. Consulted in 31 U.S. and six foreign strategic ports. Produced
insight and security enhancement recommendations for U.S. national and
strategic maritime assets;
Coordinated and conducted the first successful underway cruise liner hostage
rescue and ship recovery FTX on the high seas involving major national and
international security entities;
Specialized in Maritime
terrorism and the rescue and recovery of ships and off shore oil platforms.
Trained with British Royal Marines SBS on this matter;
Trained and liaised with
specialized U.S. police and military units, Germany’s GSG-9, the
Netherlands’s BBE, Britain’s SAS and SBS, Norway’s Police Readiness Group,
France’s GIGN, and Israeli IMAM, paratroop and naval commando
counter-terrorist response forces. Was FBI exchange agent with Germany's
GSG9 Special Border Guard counter terrorist unit;
Assisted in the
design and development of a Jordanian Special Forces Training Center for
Jordan's King Abdullah and similar training curriculum for Kuwait;
Was the lead
advisor for the Cypriot Government's Police Anti-Terrorist Squad (SAS);
Proposed and lead the FBI
study which helped usher in the patrol rifle concept and prompted Tier One
counter terrorist teams to replace the submachine gun
(SMG) with the 5.56x45mm carbine. FBI eventually replaced all SMGs field
wide with the more effective rifle caliber carbine;
Authored extensive research
paper on 21st Century trends in small arms for an allied Mid Eastern country
that desired to upgrade its individual
and crew served weaponry to better cope with conventional and terrorist
threats;
Served as North American Law
Enforcement consultant for Israel Military Industries (IMI)
and international firearms and tactical trainer for Australia's ARMATEC
Security;
Has served as an
instructor for entities such as the U.S. Department of State's
Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program, the Smith & Wesson Academy, and the Sig
Sauer Academy;
Is widely
recognized as a subject matter expert in subjects related to Police Use of
Force, SWAT, Anti-Terrorism, Hostage Rescue, and Police Survival issues;
Under the pen name Bob
Pilgrim, he is
an accomplished author and a staff writer for many LE Magazines,
publications, and journals. Past works include co-authoring the book,
Soldiering On: The Stories of Two Former Kiwi SAS Men in Their Continuing
World-Wide Careers of Adventure and authoring numerous published
articles.
